Mike Mech 2 (C64)
A downloadable game
This game runs perfectly on both PAL and NTSC models of the Commodore 64.
Gameplay
The game is set inside a cargo spaceship which, during one of the countless journeys to transport minerals to the home planet Gravion, was invaded by alien entities. The aim is to guide Mike, the on-board mechanic, inside the various cargo holds (four in total) and activate all the levers present in them.
The player has the option to move through the rooms by jumping from platform to platform, using ladders, or riding elevators that move vertically or horizontally. Sometimes there are portals through which the player can teleport to another point in the room.
Mike has no defense against the aliens. The only way to complete the game is therefore to avoid them so as not to lose a life. Even contact with the cooling fans, present in some rooms, is fatal.
Along the way, Mike will come across some locked doors. To open these doors, electronic keys will need to be collected.
Mike will also be able to access terminals, present in most of the rooms, which show the layout of the ship and indicate the rooms in which all the levers have been activated (green color) and those in which there are still levers to activate (red color).
In the rooms there are also crystals which, if collected, increase the player's score. For each crystal collected, the point value of the next one increases by 10.
Once all the levers are activated, Mike will have to leave the cargo hold, and a powerful microwave beam will pass through all the rooms disintegrating the aliens. At that point, the player will move on to the next hold.
At 5000 points and every 15000 points thereafter, the player earns an extra life.
The player also has the option to practice with a single cargo hold, for a maximum duration of 10 minutes, by selecting PRACTICE during the title screen.

Excellent new platformer. I added it to my new "Gameplay of New C64 Games from February 2025" video along with other recently released games. I hope you enjoy the video.
Yes, thank you so much!
Love the game. I just wish there was a level code after completing each area.
Thanks for appreciating.
We believe that codes for completed area would favour the completion of the game too much and shorten its longevity.
True, but it would be up to each person how you like to play it. With continue the score would start at 0 so no great HiScore. For me time is limited and the old way of restarting a world or area that I completed is something from the past. Just my opinion. Great job on the game and I will play it more :)
However, consider that the game can be completed in about 40 minutes, even less if you give up collecting the crystals (not necessary). I would agree with you if completing the game took hours.
Ok, thanks π Will try to complete it.
The first Mike Mech was good. This game is also good, but a lot harder than its prequel. I like how you transformed Mike Mech 2 into a form of a multi-screen arcade platformer. The game play and the sounds are good, but I do miss music in the title screen. Anyway, it is a nice game, and I have to say "well done". I will definitely be playing this game again some time. :)
After months of testing, we at LC-Games think that Mike 2 is a little easier than Mike 1. It's about practicing, finding the best strategies and, in most cases, finding the right timing to avoid the aliens. As with all things, however, you need consistency and the desire to dedicate time to the game to improve more and more. Playing a game every now and then certainly won't get you far.
Great sequel! Hereβs my longplay to enjoy.
There is an editing error at 9:25 (when Mike leaves the room on the left, he finds himself in the wrong room). It doesn't matter. π
Anyway, thanks a lot for the contribution!
Thank you for the hint! Video is now fixed.
Thanks for the appreciation and for the video. Go ahead like this!
Here is our Review in detail: This is the sequel to the already very well designed platform game from 2022, but with a different gameplay. It's not about coloring blocks, but about flipping switches and looking for key cards to open exits, which you first have to find. There are also various terminals in most rooms for orientation. The game impresses with its consistently varied level design and extremely good playability, which never lets you get frustrated despite the sometimes very demanding level of difficulty. This is due on the one hand to the fairly tolerant collision detection of the character with the moving enemies, and on the other hand to the newly added practice mode, in which you can practice the second to fourth sections of the ship with an infinite number of lives (which was also possible during normal gameplay in version 1.0 due to a bug, but was quickly fixed). The graphics and animations were created with great attention to detail and everything else is just right technically. A saveable high score and the fact that this game is free again this time is the icing on the cake. If you don't get it here, you're missing out on one of the best and most motivating C64 games of recent years. ππ
Thank you a thousand times! Ultra positive review! We at LC-Games are proud of it. And thanks for the video too.
Awesome game with varied level design and extremely good playability. The graphics and animations were created with great attention to detail and everything else is just right from a technical point of view. The difficulty level is very challenging, but never unfair. Our German-language review can be found in our recorded livestream starting at 00:47:10 and there is a longplay starting at 04:54:55. English subtitles are also available. π
Great game! Simple, but you've paid a lot of attention to the most important thing, which is playability. The controls feel spot on. Instant fun!
I'm happy that things like these are noticed, things that seem banal and obvious but aren't at all. Thank you!
I guess it helps that my job has been game design for over two decades :-)
I had to buy all the other games of yours that I didn't have yet. (All except the Bagman games β that oldskool walking speed is just too slow for me these days :-D)
Thank you so much!
Here is my tribute to this great game, note I am playing 1.0 where the bug I found on my gameplay has been fixed in 1.1. Video recording a couple of days ago and just released today.
Thank you! I will never get tired of telling you that your videos are really appreciated.
Incredibly fun game! Just needs a bangin' SID tune to go with the addictive gameplay.
Thanks for the appreciation. Unfortunately the musical part of the games is not my strong point, sorry.
The SID tune in Mike Mech was nice enough ;)
π
Stunning representation! Compliments!
Thank you! Mike Mech 2 (2025, LC-Games)
I return the thanks.
I saw the video. Thanks for the work!
Great game, thanks.
Thanks for appreciating.
I loved the game Luca as everything you do for C64, I don't think I have ever congratulated you in public but here I go, you are one of my favorite C64 coders!ππΎπΉοΈ
Glad to hear it, thanks, thanks, thanks!
Awesome game!
As always, thanks for liking and for the video.
I love Mike Mech, so it's great that there was a second partβ.
Good job π
I found an error. In the picture you can see that I'm losing lives and the life limit counter is going crazy and showing wrong symbols.
I sent you an email π
